Old accumulated stuff…

This time I am just flushing my post backlog… I had a few good stories stored up here, and never got around to publish them. Since I wanted to update two other posts with sticky content, I have decided to flush the old stuff finally with minimal organization. So here it is, starting with my favorite sport, Ultimate Frisbee.
Schnelle Scheiben und fliegende Körper. The news report about the Heidees. What can I say?….
And a follow up on this topic, the link to another blog that contains links to 5 other Ultimate Frisbee websites: the iRadar.

Science and Technology:
-This Amazing Device Just Made Wheelchairs Obsolete for Paraplegics, by Gizmodo and Reuters. The company, Tek RMD, is founded and operating in Gebze Organized Industrial Zone (GOSB Technopark, Istanbul, Turkey). I wonder if they are already supplying this worldwide?
-Silicon Valley billionaire funding creation of artificial libertarian islands. Interesting: “There are quite a lot of people who think it’s not possible,” Thiel said at a Seasteading Institute Conference in 2009, according to Details. (His first donation was in 2008, for $500,000.) “That’s a good thing. We don’t need to really worry about those people very much, because since they don’t think it’s possible they won’t take us very seriously. And they will not actually try to stop us until it’s too late.
-Long Range Jet with Zero Emissions. It looks so cool… To bad it is just a design, and not a prototype.

Society:
-Pirates navigate their way to parliament. It is slowly changing… Though most people voted on them because they were tired of the alternatives (or lack of), I sure hope they push forward with their program.
-Stop ACTA. I would also like to participate in such a demonstration, but rather here than in Poland… Update: There was one around here, but I was away that weekend … snif…
-Anti-ACTA activists hand MEPs massive petition. Hurray!!! Now let’s hope it works.
-‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ is officially history. Uau… incredible. I wonder how the most conservative minds will accept this? It was already a huge step for them to have women in the army.

Medicine:
-New treatment for prostate enlargement. What called my attention, besides being in the medical field, is that it was developed in Portugal. It is good to know that there are active people there doing this kind of thing. Good work Prof. Martins Pisco.

Portugal:
Universidade do Minho cria embalagem comestível para alimentos. Isto é muito interessante, espero que tenha sucesso imediato.

Humour:
